Mulled Wine Spice Mix
Spice blend for mulled wine
INGREDIENTS: cinnamon, star anise, orange peel, cloves, ginger
ALLERGENS: nuts, celery and celery products, mustard and mustard products.
This favorite winter beverage, popular worldwide, has its origins dating back to the time of the Romans.
After their conquests in Europe, the tradition of mulled wine remained preserved in every country. As a result, there are many variations of spice and drink combinations added to wine while it's being heated. The classic spice blend usually consists of sugar, cinnamon, lemon and orange slices, cloves, and star anise.
In some countries, honey is used instead of sugar, often paired with peppercorn. You can further enhance your mulled wine by adding ginger, dried fruits like raisins and prunes, or a few drops of spirits like brandy.
PREPARATION: Add 20-30g of the spice blend to 750ml of wine, heat to 60-70°C (to prevent alcohol from evaporating), and let it steep. Sweeten to taste.
Enjoy this delightful and comforting beverage during the winter months!
