Coconut palm sugar BIO
Coconut palm sugar BIO
Also known as coconut sugar, it is a natural sugar obtained from the sweet sap that circulates inside the coconut palm. Its name is often confused with palm sugar, but palm oil is obtained from another type of palm tree.
Production takes place in two phases; a cut is made on the coconut flower through which the sweet plant juice is collected, then the liquid is dried at an elevated temperature until the final product is obtained.
Coconut sugar contains several nutrients such as iron, zinc and potassium, some fatty acids, polyphenols and antioxidants that have a beneficial effect on the human body. It also contains inulin, which can slow down the absorption of glucose, which explains why coconut sugar has a lower glycemic index (GI 35) than regular sugar.
Coconut sugar is similar to regular white sugar, although its production process is much more natural and it contains some nutrients. It is less harmful than white sugar, but it is still not recommended in large quantities.
