The carnival tradition in Croatia
When we say carnival, we usually think of public celebrations such as parades and public street parties. The roots of these customs are pre-Christian. During this period, by wearing exaggerated clothes, we become someone else, and dancing, deafening noise and sprinkling of ashes, are believed to drive away winter and evil forces. During the carnival period, we take the opportunity to enjoy soft, wonderful doughnuts.
It's time for "detox"!
We saw off the old year, and with it, the various delicacies that we enjoyed in the past weeks left our tables. We probably also feel that we overdid it a little - a few more fritters, some kind of sausage that maybe we didn't need, but it smelled so enticing while we were walking around the city, and we haven't eaten French salad since Easter, so we took it all in.

Mulled wine
Nothing says winter like several layers of clothes, snow and walking around town while it's decorated with lights, Christmas decorations and stands. In addition to hats, scarves and gloves, many people's favorite way to warm up in this cold season is drinking mulled wine.
